The 2018 Wellness Round-Up

2018 has been one crazy year filled with health experiments, divulging the latest wellness books, hunting down clean food in random cities and experimenting with every non-toxic moisturizer and serum out there. Last but not least, I got engaged! Girls got a wedding to prep for and I want to look and feel my best inside and out. I’m bringing back the wellness round-up to recap all my favorites from my health and beauty explorations this year.

Health & Healing

I’ve tested out collagen, Bulletproof coffee, the Medical Medium protocols, and countless new supplements. All under doctor supervision. Here are a few of my health and healing favorites.

The Medical Medium’s books: Secrets Behind Mystery and Chronic Illness and How to Finally Heal and his most recent book, Liver Rescue. Both have inspired me to incorporate more fruit into my diet and to juice in the morning.

Hawaiian Spirulina and Barley Grass Juice Powder – Both are said to support the immune system and detoxification. Starting my day with an increased amount of healing foods has significantly cleared and brightened my skin.

One of the most life-changing books I read this year was The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer.

Bulletproof butter coffee (decaf) – Contradictory to the Medical Medium, this was the year of high-fat and keto diets. I tested out butter coffee using grass-fed ghee and Bulletproof coffee. I love the latte texture after blending coffee with ghee. Add collagen for extra skin, gut and muscle support. If you love coffee, but it makes you feel crappy, then try Bulletproof. It’s lab tested coffee without toxins and chemicals.

Clean Beauty

There were a lot of favorites this year but the top 5 skin and beauty products are:


Tata Harpers Rejuvenating Serum – I love this serum and use it under my moisturizer. It has anti-aging properties and helps keep my skin extra hydrated.

Goldfaden’s Doctor Scrub – My favorite exfoliator from the year. It leaves my skin smooth as a baby’s bottom. I like to use before a night out for flawless makeup application.

Le Prunier Plum Oil – Smells like heaven, incredibly luxurious and hydrating. You won’t regret this purchase.

BeautyCounter’s Nourishing Cream Cleanser – I’ve searched high and low for a face wash that wouldn’t dry out my skin. Even the natural brands were irritating. This one is perfect for sensitive, dry skin.

Odacite Eye Serum – I recently discovered this line of face oils and I’m in love. The eye serum helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles around this delicate area.

Ilia Mascara – This mascara really makes my eye-lashes pop without making them look clumpy.

RMS Lip Shine in Enchanted – I used this pop of rosy pink for my engagement shoot.

RMS Highlighter – Love this for a natural glow and enhancing your features.

Ere Perez Chamomile Eye Palette in Pretty – I got the most use out of this eye color palette this year. The colors complemented my brown eyes and were perfect for a natural look.

Ilia Lipstick – I use a few lipstick shades by this brand. Their lipsticks are hydrating and can be applied without the need of a liner.


When it comes to food, I love hunting down clean snacks to have for on-the-go and convenience purposes. My favorite finds this year were:

Thunderbird bars – It’s hard to find really clean food bars for on-the-go. These delicious bars use very simple ingredients and are my new favorite.

Mary’s Gone Crackers – I used to avoid these because they contained soy but this year I discovered her product line carries crackers without this inflammatory ingredient. They are manufactured on equipment that processes soy products but the product itself doesn’t contain it. Be sure to double check the ingredients on the box to make sure you have the right ones. I order mine from Vitacost.

Siete Grain-Free Tortilla’s and Queso – Um, could clean food get any more exciting? As a lover of Mexican food, these products made my entire year.

Foods Alive – A line of gluten-free, vegan and raw crackers that are bursting with flavor.

I haven’t had as much time this year to whip up new recipes but this Apple Pie Burrito was a favorite.

This year was the first time I visited Sedona . In case you missed it, I wrote a post on it: Sedona: My Favorite Organic Juice Bar.

In San Diego, I loved Juice Crafters. I experienced my first CBD drink here.

Also, I spent a lot of time exploring healthy restaurants right here in NYC. Here is my New York City Healthy Eating Guide.

Lastly, I have a few healthy staples in Chicago and Indiana for when I visit my fiancè’s family. In Chicago, I love Left Coast and True Food Kitchen.

If you’re ever in Indiana, there are a few places for healthy food. I like Earth Fare, Fresh market and Fresh Food Hub. Fresh Food Hub has the most delicious vegan/gluten-free soups plus a mini grocery store for all of the essentials.

2018, you’ve been a wild ride. I have a feeling 2019 might top you though. Wishing you a happy and healthy new year!
